Situated near Bournemouth in Dorset, the beach overlooks the Needles and Isle of Wight. The views are stunning whether it is sunny and bright or the wind is whipping up the waves, and the clouds dark and moody.
The beach is approximately 1/4 of a mile long and is a mixture of sand with some stone, and is good for making those sand castles that stand the test of time, but unfortunately not the test of the tide.
The RNLI operates over 100 lifeguard units throughout the south west and east of England and Wales.
We believe we can make a significant difference to safety on our beaches by providing an integrated rescue service from the beach to the open sea.
Last year RNLI lifeguards saved more than 60 lives and assisted nearly 10,000 people.
Avon Beach has parking for 100 cars and if they are full there is a car park behind. "We operate a charging system between Easter to the end of October, from 8.3Oam until 6.OOpm, so you can park free of charge during those lovely summer evenings the car park will be locked at the time stated on the car park hut. From the end of October until Easter we only charge week ends and school holidays, so the majority of the winter is free parking. The car park attendant will explain our charging system to you and conditions, if any, that we have at the time of your visit.
Disabled parking is available for wheel chair users."
